So I decided to have a good old sort through of my wardrobe at the weekend, seeing as it is coming up to autumn and all. It’s surprising how much stuff you can accumulate in just one season - seriously, I make a point of going through my wardrobe every season change so I can get rid of stuff I really don’t need, and also make sure I have enough clothes to see me through the next few months. This time, I was quite pleased with my clothes - I seemed to have learned a thing or two over the years about not just buying things because they look pretty on the hanger, or because they have 70% off.

I found I didn’t really have to throw much out in the way of clothing, which was nice, and it also seems that I have enough clothes to get me through the next few months without either catching a cold or looking like a fashion disaster as I try and keep warm and dry! The one thing that did stand out though was the state of my shoes. I love shoes, and any excuse to buy a pair is good enough for me - when I broke my toe earlier this year, the one good thing that came out of it was that I needed to buy some new shoes, I mean actually needed to as I couldn’t get my poor bruised, swollen toe into any of my existing pairs. So while sorting through my wardrobe, of course I found numerous pairs of shoes that I had forgotten about, or thought I had lost and was pleasantly surprised at a couple of pairs of divine high heels that I had apparently bought in a sale and put to the back of my wardrobe, in their boxes (showing their huge 75% discount) to be forgotten until I dared to delve into the very depths!

I decided it was high time to face the music and get all my shoes from their hiding places around the house and see exactly how many pairs I had, which ones I really needed (all of them of course) and where I was going to store them so I know where they were and what I had. I have to admit I was kind of taken back to see just how many pairs I had, when presented with a pile of shoes that looks like you could lose a small child in it, you really have to assess just how bad your shoe addiction is. Anyway, I managed to part with a couple of pairs, admittedly they were some running shoes that should really have been labelled bio-hazard and a couple of pairs of heels that had gone way past the re-heeling stage and just had to be shamefully binned.

Now, where to keep all my precious shoes was the next thing, and I really couldn’t find anywhere suitable to put them all without them taking up valuable space and looking amazingly messy as I tried to pile them neatly on top of each other. I decided to do a bit of research into shoe storage and discovered exactly what I needed - a shoe storage cupboard - a cupboard designed solely for storing my lovely shoes in. Could it get much better? Why I didn’t know these sort of things existed before I don’t know, perhaps I was in denial about just how much of a shoe junkie I am. Having done some online research I have found that not only do shoe storage cabinet exist, but they exist in such a wonderful range of styles and colours that I am spoilt for choice, it is almost as exciting as buying a pair of shoes.
